Hey everyone,
Some updates regarding the league. Believe it or not (based on the snow today) but opening day is only a few weeks away.
1. Again, the schedule is almost finalized and opening day will be the week after Mother's Day.
2. We are also hosting a pre-season rep meeting April 22nd at 6pm. Please do your best to meet with us virtually. Link: https://meet.google.com/paq-fpzy-cyb
3. League fees this year are getting a slight bump. We planned for a $50 increase last year. The exec met this week and went over our current challenges and took your feedback and discussed for quite a while. We feel an increase to $1650 per team is appropriate this year ($100 vs $50) to still keep costs low but keep up with inflation and less teams to ensure we aren't losing money and have some in the bank for repairs and emergencies.
4. With the price increase, the league will continue to provide balls and pay our other bills. We've decided that we would like to allow teams to provide their own bats and wanted to give a hybrid approach and lots of notice going into this year. We allowed this over COVID and didn't notice much of a difference. The league is still going to purchase new bats this year as we are close to the season and don't want teams frantically buying bats. That being said, we only plan to purchase 3 instead of 6 to save costs and feel that would be an appropriate pairing with teams also being allowed to bring their own. So the 3 will be shared as "league bats" between both teams.
WIth this, we've set some regulations on bats that can be used. Weight must be 26,27 or 28 ounces (the same as our league bats have been) and they must display the NSA logo which ill attached below. It is up to the reps and umps to enforce this and we hope no one will try and slide by the rules. If someone is caught using a bat against the regulations, it will be an automatic out.
Thanks all, hope to see you at the rep meeting. Feel free to email with any questions
